Size and method
Sisterlocks use a fine tool and a planned grid, producing many small locs. Traditional dreadlocks can be started by twisting, braiding, coiling or free-forming and are usually far thicker.
Styling and maintenance
Fine locs can be curled, braided and pinned much like loose hair, but need retightening every 4 to 6 weeks. Thicker locs are lower maintenance but offer less styling variety.
Cost and time
Sisterlocks cost more to install because of the hours involved. Dreadlocks are quicker and cheaper to start, with maintenance mainly root work and washing.
